Oakland Nursery school was founded in 1940 at Maize Pike, Columbus, Ohio. Its founder, Gustav Reiner, moved it to its current location on Oakland Park Avenue in 1950. Oakland Nursery opened another retail center in Delaware in 1990, and another in Dublin in 2005. Their newest retail building opened in New Albany Village in April 2011. The retail complex in Columbus, Delaware, Dublin and New Albany has combined to make the motto "32 acres of gardening fun" a reality. They are proud of the fact that they are still family-owned and run: they are currently owned by the second generation and the third generation of family members are doing the business. Many of their employees have worked with them for decades, and some even have their own children working with them as well.
